Kai's Skin

Kai was diagnosed with eczema when she was only 7 months old.  It appeared soon after she was put on formula and receiving her third set of vaccinations.  This was before I knew of the benefits of nursing longer and not vaccinating so aggressively.

She had a mild form of eczema until her booster vaccinations at 15 months old.  It was a newer thing at that time to pre-screen patients of egg allergies.  Now it is common protocol for doctors to always ask of food allergies before administering the Hep B Shot and the MMR.  Soon after this set of vaccinations, the eczema began to spread to other parts of her body and she began to get ear infections every other month.  Conventional medicine has not helped her.  We've exhausted that route.

I had managed to keep her eczema under control somewhat by eliminating foods that triggered breakouts.  We also used some steroid ointments when necessary.  I had to be careful because if she came across certain foods she would be covered in eczema.

From the age of 5 her eczema took a turn for the worst.  She has been suffering since with severe eczema, open sores, skin infections, severe itching, and multiple food allergies.  We have tried so many things that I will have to take time to write about it all one day.  I do not regret any of it.  It is all part of her journey to healing.  We are learning so much about how the body will heal itself when given proper nutrition.  Learning all about good nutrition has become a daily thing for us.

Something I really feel a need to express is how difficult it is to watch my child suffer.  It has been one of the hardest things to deal with in my life.  She is up many nights crying because of the pain and discomfort.  She loses sleep, I lose sleep.  She has a hard time doing her studies or playing sometimes just because of the discomfort.  She screams when I give her a bath.  She says the water burns.  There are days when she can't run or walk very well because of the cracking and sores on the backs of her legs.  Many times she cannot extend her arms or turn her head because of the eczema.  There is not a day that goes by where I don't pray for her!  Her attitude about all of this is better than I could ever maintain.

I believe that her body will heal one day.  She was not born this way.  We have seen the condition of her skin improve during times that we have been able to keep a steady protocol of eliminating foods, etc.  Recently I learned about not only eliminating problem foods, but healing the gut walls (she has leaky gut syndrome).  This is done through a nutrient-dense diet and good supplements.  So, in a nutshell, this is where we are, or where SHE is, I should say!

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!
